Description: Happiness is our birthright, not a gift. In order to understand the concept of Happiness, let us first look at the definition as stated in the dictionary: “Good fortune or contentment”. Sometimes it may seem impossible to reach happiness because of the constant negative social and personal associations and input that we are bombarded with in our live, like friends, family, media, news.
The truth is that we are all capable of great happiness in our lives. We just put things in the way of our happiness. The Four Key Principles of Happiness offer us tools to use to begin to learn how we block happiness from coming into our lives. By following these techniques, you will be able to allow happiness into your life!
Key #1 Self-Honesty
Don’t deny what you fear or feel. Accept your shortcomings and allow them to be yours. Feel your hurt and pain, deal with it, process through it and allow it to move you to begin to love and forgive yourself.
Key #2 Establish life purpose
Search out your life purpose – Real happiness comes from doing work that has purpose and meaning for you. The question is what do you really want to do? What makes you really happy?
Key #3 Love Yourself
Practice positive self-talk, positive affirmations. Take control of your mind or it will control you! Affirmations are truly powerful and effective. If we look back in our lives, we can see how we have drawn things into our lives by affirming them.
Key #4 Life Owns Everything—Detachment
The real truth of the matter is that we came into this world without material things. Everything we have in our lives we were either born into or we earned through our own efforts and the efforts of others helping us.
